New Richard - POV album
October 1, 2025 full album by New Richard, based on "points of view" of different main characters in the songs. Themes include getting romantically interested in a friend, dropping out to focus on yourself, falling in love at first sight at a time when it would help, losing everything but feeling strangely free, living the global nomad lifestyle, revisiting a place and mood from 40 years ago, getting entangled in a complicated four-way love "trapezoid", feeling the impact of daily hurts, contemplating the troubling AI future, philosophizing while living "under the milky way" (cover of The Church's classic song), and feeling like everything in your life is "old furniture" (comfortable but in need of a change).

Meet Me
Thanks for stopping by, and welcome! I'm New Richard from Northern California, and I've been recording and publishing songs for three years now. Sometimes I get out of the house to play them around town. My choice for a creative outlet involves chords, melodies, and lyrics.

As with so many other artists, my genre is hard to pinpoint. "Grownup indie" hints at the thematic material and style of music, occupying a space somewhere between defunct "adult contemporary" and today's modern indie music. My themes are introspective, sentimental, and contemplative, with an element of feeling like an outsider. My intent is to share personal songs with you in personal spaces.

I don't post on social media except Instagram plus a couple of YouTube videos (see the Videos page on this website). To contact me, message me on Instagram @newrealrichard.
